Collection of Delinquent Personal Property Taxes
Published: Thu, 20 Aug 2009 05:00:00 GMT
Description:

Starting in September 2009, the Culpeper County Treasurer’s office will begin the assignment of delinquent personal property tax accounts to the collection firm of TACS (Taxing Authority Consulting Services, P.C.). The tax accounts that will initially be assigned to TACS are those accounts with unpaid personal property tax balances that have been due for more than two years.  A 20% fee to be added to the delinquent accounts assigned to a collection agency or attorney.  In this way, the costs of collection are borne by the delinquent taxpayer and not by tax-abiding citizens.

To avoid the assignment of their delinquent account, taxpayers must take prompt steps to resolve their tax obligations. To review your accounts, please contact the Culpeper County Treasurer’s office by telephone (540) 727-3442, FAX (540) 727-3478 or e-mail David DeJarnette, Treasurer ddejarnette@culpepercounty.gov
Online payments can be made at our eTreasurer website.
